Askan Law PC ("we," "us," "our") is a California professional corporation located at 7710 Balboa Ave, Suite 325, San Diego, CA 92111. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information about you when you visit askanlawpc.com (in English or Turkish) or contact us through it.

This policy applies to visitors who browse the site, prospective clients who submit the contact form, and anyone else who reaches out to us through the site. It does not govern communications within an established attorney-client relationship, which are protected by the attorney-client privilege and our duties under the California Rules of Professional Conduct.

Information we collect

The only personal information this website actively collects is what you choose to submit through the contact form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), the practice area you select, and your message.

Our hosting provider automatically keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and basic request information) for security and operational purposes. We also use your IP address transiently to limit abusive, automated submissions of the contact form.

This website has no user accounts and collects nothing else about you.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set cookies of any kind. It does not use analytics, advertising, retargeting, social media pixels, or any other tracking technology, and it contains no third-party embeds. Because there is nothing to consent to, no cookie banner is shown. If that ever changes, we will update this policy first.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to respond to your inquiry, evaluate whether we can assist with your matter, run conflict-of-interest checks before accepting a new engagement, protect the website against abuse, and comply with our legal and professional obligations as California attorneys.

We do not use your information for marketing or advertising, and we do not sell it or share it with third parties for their own purposes.

Prospective clients and sensitive information

Submitting the contact form does not, by itself, create an attorney-client relationship. However, communications from a person seeking legal services may be protected as prospective-client information under applicable professional rules.

Immigration matters often involve sensitive facts. Until we confirm in writing that we represent you, please share only the information reasonably necessary for us to evaluate your inquiry — do not include Social Security numbers, Alien Registration (A-) numbers, passport or financial account numbers, or other highly sensitive details in the form. Any sensitive facts you do choose to share are used solely to evaluate and respond to your inquiry.

Service providers

To operate this website and our practice, we rely on service providers that process data on our behalf: Vercel (website hosting), Resend (delivery of contact form submissions), and Google Workspace (our office email, where submissions are delivered and stored). These providers process information only as needed to provide their services to us.

When we disclose information

We disclose personal information only when required by law, court order, or subpoena; when necessary to comply with our duties under the California Rules of Professional Conduct; or with your consent. We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as those terms are defined under California law.

International transfers

Our office and service providers are located in the United States. If you contact us from outside the United States, the information you submit will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have different privacy laws than your country.

Retention

We retain inquiries for as long as necessary to address them and to meet our professional and legal obligations. If your matter proceeds to an engagement, related records are kept in accordance with attorney record-retention requirements. Basic identifying information may be retained longer where needed to run accurate conflict-of-interest checks in the future.

Security

We use reasonable technical safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections for all traffic and minimal data collection by design. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, which is another reason to avoid submitting highly sensitive details through the form.

Your California privacy rights

The CCPA/CPRA applies to for-profit businesses that meet certain thresholds — annual gross revenue above the statutory threshold (approximately $26 million, adjusted periodically), handling personal information of 100,000 or more California residents or households, or deriving half or more of revenue from selling or sharing personal information. We do not currently meet any of these thresholds. As a matter of transparency and good practice, however, we honor the following on request: you may ask what personal information we hold from your submission, request its correction or deletion (subject to our professional and legal retention obligations), and you will never receive discriminatory treatment for making such a request. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of.

Children's privacy
